Mirard Joseph is pictured looking out over a viewpoint in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
The world first saw Mirard Joseph on
one of the worst days of his life.” —And that was all we saw of a man being grabbed by a Border Patrol agent on horseback back in September of 2021. What we didn’t know was what happened to him and his family after his picture was seen around the world, tweeted by personalities and even commented on by the president. He, his wife and daughter were sent back to Haiti, a country they hadn’t lived in for four years, to be forgotten, like thousands of other Haitians who travelled to the border in 2021.
